Full-Time Classroom Aide
Abilene Public Schools (USD #435), Abilene, KS, is currently seeking a Full-Time Classroom Aide. Required Qualifications include being at least 18 years old, having a high school diploma or GED, and possessing excellent organizational and academic skills. The candidate should be student-centered, demonstrate success in working with students, have excellent collaborative skills, and be energetic, creative, innovative, and flexible. Interpersonal skills are also essential.
Purpose:
The aide/para assists the instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks, the aide/para works closely with the staff and administration to support students.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to assist in facilitating the personal, social and intellectual development of students.
- Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment, and respond to the individual educational needs of students.
- Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
- Ability to be flexible as schedules and daily activities may change.
- Ability to operate all classroom equipment appropriately as required.
- Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District.
Physical Requirements /
Environmental Conditions:
- Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, turning, and reaching.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
General Responsibilities:
- Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
- Ability to work with small groups of students to practice skills introduced by the teacher.
- Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
- Ability to perform duties as required.
- Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as serving snack and assisting students with toileting and clothing routines.
- Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
- Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
- Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Principal or Teacher.
