Job DescriptionAbilene High School is seeking an Assistant Track Coach for this upcoming season(Spring 2026).
Our track & field program continues to build on a tradition of success and is committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the track. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential while contributing to a positive, championship culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a dedicated staff, work with our student-athletes, and help continue the growth of the Abilene Track & Field program.
A preference would be someone willing to coach the throws (discus, javelin, shotput) but not required.
Duties of the position include (but are not limited to):
- Teaching and modeling the Abilene Athletics & Activities core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.
- Coaching in a transformative manner that builds strong relationships and helps student-athletes grow not only as competitors but also as people.
- Teaching track & field fundamentals, event‑specific techniques, and competition strategies essential for individual and team success.
- Assisting in preparing and implementing efficient, focused practice plans that emphasize skill development, technique, and continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with the head coach and coaching staff to develop athletes while supporting a vertically aligned track & field program.
- Providing positive leadership, energy, and support to student-athletes while helping foster a culture of excellence.
