Job Title: Candy maker
Location: Abilene, KS Work Hours: 03:00 AM - 01:30 PM
A Candy maker at Russell Stover Chocolates plays an essential role in the kitchen team, crafting the finest handcrafted confections. The position involves measuring and mixing high‑quality ingredients, operating and maintaining specialized candy‑making equipment, and maintaining strict quality, efficiency, and safety standards. Workspace cleanliness and sanitation must be upheld throughout the shift, contributing to a smooth and efficient production process.
Responsibilities- Operate kitchen equipment such as large mixers, steam kettles, fire cookers, and large pots safely and in accordance with standards, guidelines, and instructions.
- Mix and/or cook candies in batches per Russell Stover Chocolates standards.
- Read and understand formulas/recipes, measurements, tapes, scales, and thermometers.
- Interpret and adhere to product specifications, recognizing deviations from those specifications.
- Monitor more than one batch or process simultaneously.
- Perform clean‑up activities as assigned.
- Complete and follow FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements and support the plant’s food safety and quality objectives.
- Report and take appropriate action on any observed or potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non‑conformities.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s Food Safety Culture by engaging in actions aligned with duties.
- Up to 50 lbs. of heavy lifting.
- Basic math and counting.
- Inspect quality and defects of products.
- Assemble products according to specifications.
Dress Code: Shirts or t-shirts must have sleeves and be without any holes or rips. Pants must be without any holes or rips. No profane or suggestive text or images. Closed steel toe and non‑slip footwear only.
