Brief

Job Description

Provide frontline reception services in a facility serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or have behavioral challenges. Maintain a professional and welcoming front desk environment and support daily operations.

Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones, provide information, and accurately route calls to the appropriate staff; take and relay messages as needed.
  • Greet and assist visitors, manage check-in procedures, and distribute required forms and information.
  • Maintain accurate visitor logs and other documentation; ensure confidentiality of patient census information in accordance with privacy laws.
  • Support organization by maintaining a clean, welcoming front desk and lobby area and by notifying security of suspicious activity.
  • Assist in safeguarding documents under receptionist care and comply with applicable federal and state privacy policies.
  • Support disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed, including possible alternate shift patterns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Knowledge of modern phone equipment, including voice over IP (VoIP) and PBX systems.
  • Proficiency with standard agency computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills for document management, both electronic and hard copy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with customers, staff, and external contacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma OR at least one year of paid work experience in a receptionist or clerical role.
Registrations, Licensure, or Certifications
  • None required
Initial Screening Criteria
  • Education equivalent to high school degree or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
  • Applicants must pass a fingerprint background check, pre-employment drug screen, and relevant registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and employee misconduct checks).

  • All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to random drug testing.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required; overtime, weekend, and holiday work could be necessary.
