Field Safety Specialist
Location: Abilene, TX
Pay Range: $20–$25 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday | 50–55 hours/week
HJC Farms is looking for a Field Safety Specialist who thrives in the field-not behind a desk. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes ownership of safety, quality, and compliance across active job sites and isn't afraid to step in, coach crews, and stop work when something isn't right.

What You'll DoAs the primary field representative of our Safety Department, you will:
- Conduct routine and unannounced job site safety inspections
- Identify unsafe conditions and initiate immediate corrective actions
- Perform incident and near‑miss investigations
, including root cause analysis - Provide on‑site coaching to reinforce safe work practices
- Oversee traffic control operations and verify compliance with approved plans
- Coordinate Texas 811 locate requests and utility protection efforts
- Perform field quality inspections to ensure work meets company standards
- Administer and coordinate drug testing programs (pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion)
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for safety, quality, traffic control, and 811 activities
- Exercise stop‑work authority when conditions are unsafe
This role is cross‑trained and multidisciplinary

Required:
- Construction field experience with strong safety awareness
- Ability to read and interpret plans and job specifications
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites
Preferred / Development Path:
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
- Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) or equivalent
- Utility locating or excavation safety experience
- OSHA 500 or professional safety certifications (future growth)
- Real authority to stop unsafe work
- Field‑based leadership, not paperwork‑only safety
