As the Director of Data Center Construction you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our data infrastructure. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the strategic vision for our data center projects, ensuring they align with our long‑term organizational goals. You will lead a dynamic team of professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Your role will involve not only overseeing the successful execution of complex construction projects but also inspiring your team to push the boundaries of what’s possible in data center design and construction.

NOTE: This is a full‑time position located in Abilene, TX. Candidates must live or relocate to the Abilene area. Relocation assistance is available. Candidates must have prior data center construction experience and leading construction teams.

Responsibilities
  • Review and understand complex data center construction projects that are being constructed by colocation lease providers; analyze the projects for risk profiles and work with colocation providers to mitigate.
  • Strategic Planning:
    Develop and implement long‑term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects delivery certainty to align with organizational goals.
  • Focus on the base building and MEP infrastructure portions of the project in addition to executing the tenant fit‑out data hall white space projects.
  • Team Leadership:
    Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance work environment.
  • Project Oversight:
    Lead and manage the construction oversight efforts of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Schedule Management:
    Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Risk Evaluation:
    Analyze projects independently to evaluate risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and inform the business of associated potential impacts.
  • Tenant Fit‑Out Integration:
    Work closely with design, construction, and commissioning teams to fully coordinate and integrate tenant fit‑out projects.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Design Coordination:
    Collaborate with design teams to ensure construction activities align with approved design plans and specifications.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication.
  • Risk Management:

    Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement.
  • Regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality will be required throughout the life of the project on a regular basis.
  • Innovation and Improvement:
    Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.
  • Attend meetings held in various time zones to support live engagement and support of international projects.
Qualifications
  • Certain U.S. customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
  • Prior data center construction experience and proven ability to lead construction teams.
  • Strategic thinking and risk‑management abilities with a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements for data center construction.
