Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Martinez Elementary will reopen as an ACE campus, a proven whole-school model that provides intentional supports to ensure that every student can succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Description/Notes: Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
  • Certified Texas Evaluation and Support System (TTESS) appraiser - preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Proven success in leading a school toward continuous improvement in academic goals with a relentless pursuit of academic excellence for all students
  • Deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction and evidence-based practices
  • Demonstrated leadership on campus-wide committees and/or campus-wide activities
  • Proven experience to use and interpret data to inform decision-making processes that allow for intentional actions to lead to improved student/campus achievement
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Experience:

  • Three years' experience as a classroom teacher
  • Assistant Principal Experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties Executive Leadership
  • Serve as a transformational leader working to create a best-in-class learning environment.

  • Participate in professional development and training to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members.

  • Support the principal in developing and setting annual campus performance objectives.
  • Support the development of the campus improvement plan with staff, parents and community members.
  • Help the principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
  • Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school's mission.
  • Delegate leadership responsibilities as appropriate, ensuring strong systems of monitoring, support, and feedback for campus staff.
  • Serve as a member of the campus-based Instructional Leadership Team & site-based decision-making committee, and others as assigned
Instructional Leadership
  • Promote the expectation for high-level performance from staff and students and recognize excellence and achievement.
  • Develop and monitor instructional and administrative processes to ensure that instructional practices are aligned to evidence-based practice and implemented with fidelity.
  • Ensure high-quality instructional materials are resources are implemented with fidelity.
  • Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate. Participate in program evaluation measures and make suggestions for improvement where needed.
  • Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management and communication with parents, families and community members.
  • Provide professional learning to support the teaching staff in accomplishing the school's instructional goals.
  • Disaggregate and interpret data in order to assist in developing appropriate next steps for campus improvement and for recognition of success.
