Position Description
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing is dedicated to training knowledgeable, compassionate nurses and nurse practitioners to meet the critical nursing shortage. The Instructor/Assistant Professor – Traditional Undergraduate supports the mission of TTUHSC School of Nursing through excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly engagement. This role supports the Graduate Program by delivering high‑quality instruction in didactic, clinical, laboratory, simulation lab, and online settings, while participating in curriculum planning, academic advising, and professional development.
The position has a limited remote schedule.
- Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university.
- Teaches students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings.
- Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
- Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
- Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings.
- Participates in the development of curriculum.
- Participates in program, school, and university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status.
- Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
- Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
- Participates in teaching activities according to Instructor rank.
- Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Master's of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or the ability to transfer your license to Texas.
- At least two years of clinical experience.
- Experience teaching in a higher education or clinical setting.
- Three years of experience in curriculum development.
- Active membership in and participation in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H‑1B I‑129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case‑by‑case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change‑of‑status or change‑of‑employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
