FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EXEMPTION: Teacher Exemption

LOCATION: HSU Campus, Abilene, Texas

TARGET HIRE DATE: Initial reviewof applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position isfilled. Anticipated start date is August 2026.

SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The person in this position will direct HSU's Concert Band, direct HSU's Cowboy Band, and teach undergraduate classes and applied lessons in the candidate'sarea of expertise for the School of Music.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs and develops HSU's Concert Band and presents semester concerts.

Directs and develops HSU's Cowboy Band, arranging for outside performances including opportunities nationally and internationally.

Actively recruits for the instrumental program as well asthe School of Music at large.

Teaches within the School of Music.

Advises current and prospective Music Education students.

Provides service to the School of Music, College of Artsand Media, and university through involvement in committees as well as other university activities (e.g., commencement, convocation, etc.).

Collaborates effectively with faculty, staff,administrators, and members of the community.

Engages in ongoing professional development as wellas artistic/scholarly work.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Thereare no supervisor responsibilities, except for student workers.
