SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The Peer Academic Coach assists aStrategic Learning Initiative (SLI) Instructor by helping students connect,adjust, and succeed within the HSU academic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work under the supervision ofan SLI Instructor.

Provide Peer Academic Coachingduring weekly, thirty-minute individual meetings with SLI students.

Complete initial and weekly

Peer Academic Coaching training.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Peer Academic Coach or SLI Instructor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Must be a Hardin-Simmons University student in good academic standing that has been through and completed the SLI program.

While performing the duties ofthis position, the student worker is regularly required to talk and hear. The student worker is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands tofinger, handle, or feel. The student worker is occasionally required to reachwith hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The student worker must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This position also requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods while performing office andphone/computer operations.
