SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The Mathematics department is in the Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics. The department offers baccalaureate degrees in Mathematics. We are looking for part-time, adjunct faculty to teach remedialcollege Mathematics, specifically Intermediate Algebra.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach remedial college courses in Mathematics. The current need isfor an adjunct instructor of Intermediate Algebra.

Demonstrate effective teaching strategies by planning and implementing a variety of teaching methods as well as assessment.

Maintain accurate records and documents and submit timely reports.

Records/documents include but are not limited to syllabi, grades, and officehours.

Know and uphold the policies in the most current faculty handbook.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics required. Teaching experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

None are required for this position at this time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit or stand forlong periods of time while performing office and computer operations.

Must be able to teach in a classroom setting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) with teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.
