Position Summary
The Instructor/Assistant Professor - Traditional Undergraduate supports the mission of the School of Nursing through excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly engagement. This role provides high quality instruction in didactic and clinical settings, participates in curriculum planning, academic advising, and professional development. The position has a limited remote schedule.
Major/Essential Functions- Maintain academic standards as established by the school and the university.
- Teach students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings.
- Assume responsibility for and/or participate in the planning and organization of courses assigned.
- Provide academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
- Plan professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings, etc.
- Participate in the development of curriculum.
- Participate in program, school, and university committees, and other activities associated with professional status.
- Maintain membership in and participate in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
- Incorporate new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
- Participate in teaching activities according to Instructor rank.
- Display a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Master's of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- Two years of clinical experience.
- Experience teaching in a higher education/clinical setting.
- Three years of experience in curriculum development.
- Active membership in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
