Job Title: Safety Training Specialist

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Operations Training, the Safety Training Specialist will help design and conduct various safety training courses such as GWO Basic Safety Training, Confined Space Rescue, Competent Person, and other courses to align employee performance with organisational goals. The specialist will also determine training objectives and write training programmes, including outlines, handouts, courses, exams, and design practical exercises.

Responsibilities require creativity, strong judgement and the ability to perform related duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver at‑height training to RWE technicians on rescue response and first‑aid techniques in multi‑brand wind turbines and solar farms.
  • Independently manage classroom presentations and lead real‑world training scenarios for students to ensure safe and effective rescue responses.
  • Design and develop instructor‑led training and eLearning on various safety topics: GWO Basic Safety Training, Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Confined Space Rescue, Competent Person, etc.
  • Upload and maintain training material on the LMS and generate accurate records and reports.
  • Continuously evaluate and update training materials.
  • Conduct site visits to perform training, administer exams, and evaluate competencies.
  • Support development of other instructors through peer evaluation and feedback.
  • Ensure all participants meet learning objectives in course and module outlines during delivery.
  • Develop new competencies and rescue techniques on multi‑brand turbines to support RWEA technicians.
  • Participate in training audits as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in education, learning, training, or wind turbine technology.
  • GWO IQT or IQTX or IQTT certification required.
  • OSHA 500/501 trainer course (construction/general) highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working at height in wind or similar industry.
  • Minimum 2 years delivering GWO Basic Safety Training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years delivering formal training to adult learners in safety or technical disciplines.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED trainer certification.
  • Maintain GWO IQT/IQTX or IQTT certification.
  • Competent fall protection & rescue trainer or equivalent certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of PPE inspections, training administration tools and processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and pivot as priorities shift.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions with limited information.
  • Strong planning, organising and training delivery skills in dynamic field environments.
  • Proven interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with diverse audiences.
  • High‑level knowledge of rescue equipment, first aid concepts and safe work methods on wind turbines.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset while managing multiple and changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to adjust plans and travel on short notice.
  • Effective resource management to achieve operational goals.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the company and the renewables space.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.).
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Must sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
  • Must pass a fit‑for‑duty medical examination upon hiring and every 2 years thereafter and maintain a body weight of 270 lbs. or less.
  • Flexibility and full range of movement in confined spaces.
  • Office‑based role with some travel and visits to project sites.
  • Field environments may include hazardous conditions such as working at height (up to 300 ft), confined spaces, exposure to blood borne pathogens, energized electrical and rotating equipment, and extreme hot and cold conditions.
