Technical Training Specialist

RWE Americas, LLC – Full Time, Permanent – Exempt – Operations & Maintenance

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Operations Training, the Technical Training Specialist will design and conduct technical, safety, and in-field trainings such as Solar Technical, BESS, High Voltage Awareness, NFPA‑70E, Electrical Schematics, Electrical and Hydraulic troubleshooting, LOTO Awareness, and Confined Space Awareness to align employee performance with organizational goals.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver in‑person classroom and on‑the‑job training to RWEA technicians on technical and safety topics related to multi‑brand wind turbines and solar farms.
  • Independently manage classroom presentations and lead real‑world training scenarios to ensure safe and effective rescue responses.
  • Design and develop instructor‑led training (ILT) & eLearning on various technical, safety, and in‑field topics.
  • Upload and maintain training material on the LMS, maintain accurate records, and generate reports.
  • Continuously evaluate and update training materials.
  • Conduct site visits to provide training, administer exams, evaluate competencies, and deliver practical exercises.
  • Support the development of other instructors through peer evaluation and feedback.
  • Ensure all participants meet learning objectives outlined in course and module outlines during delivery.
  • Continuously develop new competencies and rescue techniques for multi‑brand turbines.
  • Participate in training audits as required.
Job Requirements and Experiences
  • Associate’s degree in education, learning/training, wind turbine, or solar technology.
  • Solar and/or BESS certification highly desired.
  • OSHA 500/501 trainer course for construction/general industry preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in Solar, BESS, or a similar industry.
  • Minimum two years’ experience delivering formal training programs for adult learners in a safety or technical discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of PPE inspections, training administration tools, and processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and pivot when priorities shift.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Initiative – able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions with limited information.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to plan, organize, and deliver training in dynamic field environments.
  • Organizational skills for coordinating multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Interpersonal skills for dealing with management, technical teams, and diverse backgrounds.
  • High level knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematics, troubleshooting, and high‑voltage equipment.
  • Detail‑ and deadline‑oriented mindset while managing changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to adjust plans and travel on short notice.
  • Effective use of available resources to achieve operating goals.
  • Desire to learn about the company and the renewables space.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot or cold).
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Push, pull, or lift tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold).
  • Walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Travel to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Sit, walk, or stand for long durations.
  • Pass a fit‑for‑duty medical examination upon hiring and every two years thereafter, maintaining a body weight of 270 lbs. or less.
  • Full range of movement in confined spaces.
  • Office‑based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations.
  • Field environment may include hazardous conditions such as working at heights up to 300’, confined spaces, exposure to blood borne pathogens, energized electrical and rotating equipment, and extreme hot and cold conditions.
