Position: Senior Wind Hub Technician - TX10 (Lubbock, TX)

Job Summary

The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. This critical role maintains optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines, ensuring alignment with GE excellence.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements on a daily basis, covering all electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators.
  • Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch and speed turbines and converter parts.
  • Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
  • Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
  • Effectively perform diagnostic analysis and generate plans for timely resolution.
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
  • Work with and respond to GE's remote operations center when necessary.
  • Mentor peers as directed.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  • 4+ years of wind troubleshooting experience, including 1+ year in an EHS, SQC, or Lead role, or 5+ years of wind troubleshooting experience with a passing Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily, meeting manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs.
  • Capacity to work in a range of environments: industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
  • Strong prioritization skills according to contract obligations.
  • Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and be on-call as required. Occasional overnights may be required.
Desired Characteristics
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field.
  • Technical certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field.
  • Experience working with a variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm.
  • Wind turbine experience.
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools and heavy equipment for facility maintenance, with knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base pay: $40.72 – $48.44 per hour for U.S. based positions.
  • Geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
