Job Description Summary
The Wind Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Wind Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Wind Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Work with site & hub leadership to execute contractual obligations and daily activities related to the electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators.
- Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable‑pitch and variable‑speed turbines.
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision while observing all safety requirements.
- Conduct diagnostic electrical analysis.
- Document all work performed using computer‑based service reporting procedures.
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ year experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.
- Pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and handle 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet.
- Ability to work in various environments (industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities).
- Effective prioritization of work according to contract obligations.
- Willingness to work rotated shift schedules, on‑call, and occasional overnights as needed.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field.
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field.
- Experience with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside the Wind Farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Experience with hydraulic power tools and heavy equipment maintenance, including crane and rigging requirements.
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
Non‑remote position. Work location includes all wind sites within Hub TX 12. The employee is expected to work at all sites within this hub as assigned by management.
CompensationBase pay: $31.68 – $42.20 per hour for a U.S. based position.
