We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Project Engineer to oversee industrial building projects from planning through execution. The role involves subcontractor management, field operations, contract plan review, scheduling, cost forecasting, and team leadership. This position provides a pathway into Project Management roles.
LocationProjects will be located in the El Paso/Santa Teresa, NM and Abilene, TX areas. Relocation or per diem options may be available based on project needs.
Responsibilities- Perform Contract Compliance, quality control & field oversight of subcontractors.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and potential cost‑saving measures.
- Take corrective actions to resolve field issues.
- Review subordinates’ work for compliance with contract documents; address deficiencies and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate scheduling software.
- Collaborate with project management personnel to gather input and ensure schedule accuracy.
- Manage document control processes, including logging and tracking new issue drawings and contract documents.
- Review new issue drawings for changes in conditions; quantify impacts and communicate with supervisor.
- Distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.
- Prepare monthly cost projections using data from project management systems.
- Develop quarterly cash flow projections to support financial planning.
- Recommend improvements to project operations including staffing, methods, and procedures.
- Serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects.
- Provide supervision and on‑the‑job training for junior engineers and project staff.
- Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of work experience in construction or engineering; vertical construction preferred.
- 2+ years of experience managing engineers and project subcontractors.
- Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.
