The engineer will perform a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects, focusing primarily on the system processes as well as the associated controls and instrumentation in Oil & Gas and other industrial applications.
EssentialJob Functions
- Organize and process information to assist in developing designs, specifications, and drawings of equipment.
- Design products in a professional and time efficient manner to meet ASME, API, UL, and NACE design requirements as well as customer specifications and deadlines.
- Work in tandem with the mechanical engineer to provide a complete mechanical design for vessels and piping systems, which can then be modeled and drafted by designers.
- Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for upstream, mid-stream and downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
- Verify instrumentation component selection including controls, flow measurement meters, and valves for piping and vessel system based off the P& customer specification sheets.
- Conduct Material Take Off (MTO’s) from customer supplied or internally created models and drawings. Size controls, flow measurement meters, valves, and develop instrumentation lists based on the PFD and P&e Bill of Material and Long Lead Item (LLI) lists.
- Proactively anticipate risks associated with project execution and take steps to mitigate as necessary.
- Assist in the development of company designed systems, standards, products, and procedures
- Monitor the design and drafting related to projects and report to the VP of Engineering.
