Electrical Controls Engineer III; Nights

Overview

The Plant Controls Specialist maintains and troubleshoots production equipment from various suppliers. This position identifies and prioritizes controls / electrical opportunities to maximize operations performance within a facility. Position develops and maintains electrical and controls system documentation.

• Provide proper training in Controls and Electricity to Maintenance Technicians to minimize production downtime.
• Execute small and medium projects involving PLC 5, SLC 500, Control Logix, Panel View Plus, and Allen Bradley VFDs.
• Maintain industrial networks such as Device Net and Remote I/O.
• Assist the NABU Controls Engineering Group with installation and maintenance of SKU Controllers.
• Identify and prioritize controls/electrical opportunities to improve operations.
• Plan and execute projects in a manner that minimizes downtime.
• Develop and maintain electrical and controls system documentation.
• Troubleshoot production equipment from various suppliers.
• Quickly identify root causes of mechanical, controls, or joint problems and coordinate needed resources.
• Develop control software to balance mechanical and controls changes for containers.
• Maintain Allen Bradley hardware and software: PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, networks, and various electrical systems.
• Supervise electrical installation/integration of equipment and controls.
• Follow CCE Controls and Electrical Specifications.
• Collaborate with CCE Controls Engineering Group to improve designs/programs and propose specification changes.
• Recommend controls projects for CCE Controls Engineering Group versus Plant Controls Specialist.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or minimum eight years of work experience in industrial environments (without a college degree).
• Minimum ten years of work experience in industrial environments (without a college degree).
• Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and networks (Device Net, Control Net, Remote I/O, Data Highway Plus, Ethernet).
• Experience with various Human‑Machine Interfaces, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations.
• Strong speaking/presenting skills – present complex technical problems simply and keep managers informed via exception reporting.
• Collaboration – work well with others to achieve measurable results within allocated time.
• Analytical thinking – methodical analysis of essential facts to solve problems.
• Computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
• Creative thinking – develop innovative solutions to challenging problems and be receptive to new ideas.
• Prioritizing – identify critical work, coordinate resources, and achieve short, medium, and long‑term goals.
