This position is a member of our North Central and West Texas Division.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform routine technical work in the field of air, water, or waste pollution for the Abilene Regional Office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities and observed conditions.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring; and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects.
  • Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting rules, regulations, policies, or procedures.
  • Experience conducting inspections or investigations.
  • Experience collecting environmental samples.
  • Experience interacting with the public, media, and/or regulated community. To provide technical and/or non-technical information.
  • Experience working with environmental issues, specifically water supply system issues.
Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field.

OR

Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m.

This position requires 50% travel and otherwise full-time in-office scheduled at the Abilene Regional Office.
