The Audiologist will provide comprehensive audio logic services for claimants (Veterans in this case) within our program, including Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams, hearing & balance assessments, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation, device fitting/monitoring, documentation, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. The role supports service delivery in compliance with relevant federal, state and facility regulations, as well as accepted community standards of care.

Assessment & Diagnosis
  • Conduct C&P (Compensation & Pension) exams for Veterans, including taking detailed health and hearing histories.
  • Perform diagnostic assessments (pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, bone conduction, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, otoacoustic emissions where required).
  • Administer, score and interpret audiometric test results and other diagnostic data to identify and monitor hearing and balance disorders.
  • Evaluate vestibular/balance issues when indicated, in collaboration with relevant specialists.
  • Provide medical-diagnostic impressions and opinions on causation, functional impact, service-connection for claimants, integrating audio logic findings with clinical and service history.
  • Identify the need for referrals to other disciplines (ENT, neurology, physical therapy, vestibular rehab) when indicated.
Treatment Planning & Intervention
  • Develop individualized treatment plans or recommendations based on assessment outcomes (hearing conservation, amplification/assistive devices, balance rehabilitation, tinnitus management, auditory rehabilitation) tailored to Veteran population.
  • Fit, program, and adjust hearing aids, amplification devices, cochlear or bone-anchored implants, assistive listening systems (when within scope).
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations to monitor device performance, hearing status changes, compliance, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide counseling and education to Veterans, families and support persons on hearing loss, modifications, and hearing conservation.
  • Manage tinnitus, hyperacusis or auditory processing issues as part of the audio logic rehabilitation program.
Case Management & Coordination
  • Coordinate care with rehabilitation specialists, claims examiners, hearing conservation programs, medical providers, Veterans Affairs (VA) or other relevant agencies/contract stakeholders.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings (claims review, return-to-work, hearing loss).
  • Provide expert input in case-reviews regarding functional auditory capacity, service-connection of hearing or vestibular disorders for Veterans, compensation implications, accommodations in workplace or daily living.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare timely, unbiased, complete documentation of all Veteran care, assessments, device fittings, follow-ups and opinions in compliance with law, regulation, and established policy.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records (intake summaries, case summaries, progress notes, device logs, audit trails) in accordance with federal, state, facility, and contract standards.
  • Generate periodic reporting as required by contract/funding agency: metrics on volume of exams, productivity.
  • Provide written and/or oral testimony, expert opinions or summaries when required for claims, legal proceedings or regulatory reviews.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate (Au.D.), or Master’s (M.A., M.S., Ed.D) in Audiology or equivalent degrees (Doctor of Education in Audiology, Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology) as specified.
  • Active and unrestricted audiologist license in the state in which exams are performed.
  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (e.g., CCC-A) or completion of master’s/doctorate level through an ASHA-accredited program.
  • Demonstrated experience (preferably 2+ years) in audiology role, ideally including diagnostic testing, device fitting, veteran or compensation/claims population.
  • Knowledge of audiometric testing procedures, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, vestibular assessment (where applicable), hearing aid fitting and assistive listening device technologies.
