This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of operations in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients, prepare necessary paperwork before visits, receive patients, and maintain records. The role may coordinate other clinic services, respond to requests for patient information, and maintain related department information. Employees work under general supervision, following established procedures; unusual problems are referred to a supervisor.
Work is performed in a medical clinic within a correctional facility and may involve high contact with patients, facility staff, and partners.
- Schedules patients for appointments through the electronic medical record (EMR) system and enters sick call requests (SCR) into EMR.
- Telehealth presenter.
- Checks access to care through EMR.
- Patient Throughput Management.
- Ensures protected health information (PHI) is scanned into EMR.
- Assists in processing patients through EMR as needed.
- Schedules and completes paperwork for offender record reviews.
- Contributes to the goals of the Managed Care team.
- Copies records for patient liaison, attorney general, and others authorized to review PHI.
- Attends meetings to support unit goals.
- Acts as courier to facilitate EMR operations.
- Performs other health information tasks as necessary.

Required QualificationsOne (1) year of customer service, office, or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications- One year of experience with medical terminology, preferably in a clinical setting
- One year of experience using electronic health records
- One year experience working in a high-security or regulated environment
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs
- Previous correctional experience
