Birth Certificate Clerk

JOB SUMMARY

Collects and distributes newborn birth information to state and local vital statistics agencies in a timely manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

* High School Graduate

Minimum Work Experience

* 1 year experience in health information management

Required Licenses/Certifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position,

* Demonstrates interpersonal skills,

* Requires the ability to handle confidential information, and deals effectively with hospital personnel & duties of position,

* Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.

* Skill sets in regards to answering telephones, balancing figures, inputting data into computer programs, maintaining filing systems, maintaining logs, updating patient charts including documentation and proofreading.

* Maintains work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards.

* Skill sets in regards to equipment including but not limited to calculators, fax machines, laser printer, personal computer, photocopier and word processor.

* Software mastery to include but not limited to:
State of Texas Birth Certificate Registry System, 3M Softmed chart view, Chart Scan, IDX, Allscripts and additional software as needed.
