Job Summary

Collects and distributes newborn birth information to state and local vital statistics agencies in a timely manner.

Minimum Education

• High School Graduate

Minimum Work Experience

• 1 year experience in health information management

Required Licenses/Certifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position,
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills,
• Requires the ability to handle confidential information, and deals effectively with hospital personnel & duties of position,
• Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
• Skill sets in regards to answering telephones, balancing figures, inputting data into computer programs, maintaining filing systems, maintaining logs, updating patient charts including documentation and proofreading.
• Maintains work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards.
• Skill sets in regards to equipment including but not limited to calculators, fax machines, laser printer, personal computer, photocopier and word processor.
• Software mastery to include but not limited to:
  State of Texas Birth Certificate Registry System, 3M Softmed chart view, Chart Scan, IDX, Allscripts and additional software as needed.
