Optometric Technician

Role:

Support optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care and education, performing pre-testing, diagnostic procedures, and managing appointment schedules to ensure efficient, high-quality experiences.

• Conduct preliminary evaluations such as dilation, visual acuity, and diagnostic testing with specialized equipment.
• Perform verbal patient interviews to identify medical issues and relay information to optometrists.
• Schedule referrals, complete paperwork, and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Assist with clerical tasks, documentation, and billing processes.
• Manage contact lens inventory, perform lens insertion/removal classes, and handle end-of-day procedures.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the practice environment.
• May act as a scribe or perform refractions as needed.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in eye exams, medication dispensing, and patient record maintenance.
• Industry certifications (CPO, CPOA, CPOT) preferred.
• Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and strong PC skills (MS Office, Windows).
• Excellent communication skills and team collaboration ability.

Ability to utilize office equipment, sit/stand for extended periods, walk, and lift up to 10 lbs.
