ER Consultant 1 - Data Center People Support
The Oracle Employee Relations team is looking for an ER Consultant 1 - Data Center People Support to join our on-site data center HR support team in Abilene, Texas. The Oracle ER team is a results-oriented team that works with employees and leaders to help make Oracle a great place to work. Oracle Data Centers operate 24/7 to support mission-critical cloud infrastructure. The ER Consultant 1 - Data Center People Support is an on-site, entry-level ER role supporting Abilene, Texas. This position supports routine employee relations intake, case documentation, manager process guidance, and timely escalation of higher-risk matters. The role partners closely with Human Resources, Employment Practices, Legal, HR Ops/Payroll, Benefits/Leave, Security, and other HR Centers of Excellence to help ensure consistent, confidential, and timely resolution of workplace matters.
Work Environment Requirements:
This role supports a 24/7 operation and requires consistent on-site presence at the Abilene, Texas facility, including interaction with day and night shift teams. The role is subject to controlled-access protocols, which may include biometric identity verification for secure site entry.
Coverage Model:
- Core on-site coverage: ~7:00 a.m.
- 10:00 p.m. via overlapping shifts - Example shifts (may vary): 8a-5p, 10a-7p, 1p-10p
- Weekend/holiday coverage: rotating schedules
- Overnight coverage: structured handoffs and escalation path; on-call participation may be required based on site needs
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an on-site first point of contact for routine employee relations questions and intake from employees and frontline managers; explain process steps and escalate as needed.
- Perform structured intake, triage, and documentation in the ER case/ticketing system; maintain accurate notes, supporting materials, and next-step tracking through resolution.
- Support ER Consultants and HR partners with day-to-day employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, conduct follow-up, attendance issues, and policy questions, escalating more sensitive or complex issues as appropriate.
- Support routine manager coaching by preparing documentation, templates, timelines, and talking points for review by ER or HR partners.
- Coordinate ER workflows such as scheduling conversations, collecting relevant documents, confirming action items, and ensuring timely handoffs while maintaining confidentiality.
- Identify and promptly escalate elevated-risk concerns, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, threats, workplace violence, serious safety/security concerns, or other matters requiring specialized review.
- Maintain on-floor presence across buildings and shifts; build relationships with employees and shift leaders and share recurring themes with ER and HR leadership.
- Support ER reporting, case tracking, communications, process improvements, and other HR projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field or equivalent experience.
- No prior employee relations experience required; willingness to learn Oracle policies, ER playbooks, case documentation standards, and escalation practices.
- Strong customer service mindset and comfort handling in-person employee and manager questions with professionalism and care.
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Benefits, HRS, HR Ops/Payroll, Employment Practices, Security, and other COE partners, on routine or low-complexity matters and escalations.
- Willingness and ability to work an on-site, shift-based schedule including rotating weekends/holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, coursework, or exposure in HR, employee services, operations support, compliance, or customer-facing support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to hourly workforce environments such as operations, manufacturing, logistics, facilities, or data centers.
- Experience with case/ticketing systems and/or HRIS, or demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Interest in employee relations, manager coaching, workplace investigations, policy interpretation, and controlled-access environments with safety/security requirements.
