Pay Rate: $35.00–$40.00 per hour + Per Diem and Housing

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer with strong Data Center and Outside Plant (OSP) experience to support high-performance fiber optic network installations. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who takes pride in precision work, understands network integrity, and thrives in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

You will be responsible for fusion splicing, ribbon splicing (mass fusion), fiber testing, troubleshooting, and documentation across complex fiber optic infrastructures. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with high-count ribbon fiber, OTDR testing, and data center environments.

This is an opportunity to work on advanced fiber optic networks where quality, accuracy, and reliability are critical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fiber optic cables
  • Execute mass fusion (ribbon) splicing of 12, 16, and 24-count ribbon fiber in data center environments
  • Terminate and test fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
  • Prepare and splice high-count fiber cables in enclosures and rack-mounted panels
  • Install and test pressurized and non-pressurized fiber closures
  • Conduct fiber testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, Power Meter, and Fiber Scope tools
  • Install, route, and dress fiber optic cabling (vertical and horizontal pathways)
  • Perform loose tube cable entry and high-count ribbon fiber preparation
  • Troubleshoot fiber rings and audit plant infrastructure
  • Maintain accurate splice documentation, test results, and fiber asset inventory
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to execute splicing per network design specifications
Required Skills/Education
  • 5+ years of hands-on fiber optic splicing experience in Data Center and active plant environments
  • Proven experience with ribbon fiber splicing and mass fusion techniques
  • Proficiency operating and interpreting results from OTDR, Power Meters, and Fiber Scopes
  • Experience preparing splice cases and rack-mounted fiber panels
  • Ability to read blueprints, fiber maps, and splice documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, digital maps, documentation tools)
Preferred
  • CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalent fiber splicing certification
  • Extensive Data Center fiber deployment experience
