Major/Essential Duties of the Job:
- Design and implement a proactive development plan; expand and enhance relationships with foundations in order to increase proposal submissions as well as gift and grant income from foundations.
- Collaborate with University leadership to determine which projects are prioritized for solicitation and work to complete proposals for foundations or corporations.
- Manage all foundation and corporate proposals and grants, including identification of foundations with gift parameters that meet the stated objectives of McMurry, presentation of potential proposals for approval by the VP of Advancement, preparation of proposals for submission to foundations, and regular reporting to foundations with grants funding McMurry programs.
- Manage the follow-up processes of RFPs, as well as all reporting for foundation-based grants, and corporate gifts.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at foundations/corporations.
- Maintain an active portfolio of major foundations and corporations, focusing on university-level or multi-college initiatives that have significant funding potential.
- Coordinate and participate in strategic visits for university leadership with foundation/corporate leadership.
- Facilitate the preparedness of the President and VP of Advancement and all other McMurry colleagues who may be directly involved in presenting foundation and corporate proposals on behalf of the college and in the cultivation and stewardship of relationships with foundation and corporate executives and trustees.
- Assist with “All-hands” events planned by the Office of Institutional Advancement (Homecoming, Alumni-Weekend, Women’s Leadership Luncheon, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director for Development or Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two or more years’ experience in Fundraising or industry with transferable skills (outside sales, marketing, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with great attention to detail and professional demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies
Experience:
- Experience in higher education development
- Knowledge of McMurry University or private liberal arts institutions
- Experience with Fundraising CRM software
