WHS Manager – Responsibilities

You will be the site’s safety champion, leading global WHS program implementation. Combine hands‑on safety management with strategic thinking to protect people, build relationships, influence positive change, and drive operational excellence.

Lead safety compliance efforts, conduct thorough site audits, analyze incident trends, and manage the first‑aid program and emergency response capabilities.

Core Impact Areas
  • Safety Leadership & Innovation – transform safety culture, drive continuous improvement, leverage technology and data analytics, develop leadership plans, and conduct site audits.
  • Strategic Partnership & Influence – build partnerships with operations, influence decision‑making through data analysis, oversee record‑keeping, workplace organization, and WHS training programs.

Position requires flexibility to travel 50–70% of the time and work various shifts.

Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Work in an environment with variable temperatures and weather (e.g., outside loading departments).
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.

Must obtain adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 weeks of start date if not already certified.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management, or 2+ years of Amazon Safety (blue badge/FTE) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a distribution center or manufacturing safety site with at least 250 people and mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, changing or growing organization.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders.
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, pivot tables, charts, and graphics.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites remotely.
