Operations Manager
Overview
The Project Manager II is a senior project management position that oversees projects from planning through completion, ensuring client satisfaction and delivering unparalleled service. The role supports two to four concurrent projects of small to medium crew size or one to two concurrent projects of large crew size, while mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities- Train and provide direction to Project Assistants and / or Project Manager I in maintaining project‑required tracking devices.
- Plan and organize a project under direction of a Senior PM or Division Manager.
- Participate in the supervision and training of Project Assistants and Project Manager I.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate guidelines.
- Negotiate terms and supervise preparation of all change orders.
- Act as liaison with primary client and A/E to facilitate construction activities.
- Support construction activities with onsite Foreman and Area Superintendent to ensure schedule and budget compliance.
- Anticipate, prevent, and resolve potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures within company guidelines.
- Represent the company in project meetings.
- Direct preparation of all change quotations for presentation to the prime client.
- Negotiate all change quotations to a successful conclusion.
- Prepare monthly costing reports under supervision of a Senior PM or Division Manager.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses).
- Assist with development of new business opportunities.
- Other duties assigned based on role within the business unit.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a project management role.
- Effective performance management.
- Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Oracle.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interact effectively and professionally with all employee levels, vendors, clients, and others.
Up to 25% travel required.
Working ConditionsPosition performed primarily on active construction sites. Typical activities include sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work conducted indoors, possibly in varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level typically low to medium; may become loud on job. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
