Job Summary

The Manager of Patient Transportation plays a vital leadership role overseeing the movement of patients throughout the hospital while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compassion. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, train, and develop all levels of personnel including dispatchers, trainers, and transporters.
  • Coordinate patient transportation activities and services in collaboration with nursing, clinical, and support departments.
  • Maintain a motivated, team-oriented environment that promotes service excellence and accountability.
  • Monitor and supervise dispatcher activity; understand and manage dispatcher logic and workflow systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including Federal, State, JCAHO, OSHA, and CDC.
  • Support the achievement of departmental financial objectives, ensuring operations remain within budget and expenses are controlled.
  • Ensure proper function of department systems including software applications, paging, and communication tools.
  • Manage add-on services such as patient observation, lift, courier, valet, or shuttle services, where applicable.
  • Model and reinforce best practices in infection control, safe patient handling, and body mechanics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college degree or equal-related experience preferred.
  • Healthcare, hospitality, or similar industry experience with management of people and/or processes is preferred.
  • Exposure to working with diverse frontline team members, customers, and clients preferred.
  • Customer service–oriented background with strong emphasis on hospitality approach.
  • Extroverted, relationship-focused individuals with the ability to build trust and lead diverse teams effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to operational detail.
  • Analytical ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support data-driven decisions that enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, especially in coaching team performance and responding to challenges in a dynamic hospital setting.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across departments and with all levels of hospital personnel. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning operational systems and software tools.
