Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Overview
Broadwind Towers & Heavy Fabrications is growing! We are hiring a Yard Material Handler Level I on our Weekend Shift. This shift is 6 am to 6 pm Friday through Sunday, and comes with a $4.50/hr shift diff. Overtime is available if willing to work some days on M-Th shift.
Responsibilities- Move materials in and around the yard, buildings or remote locations.
- Stack all materials neatly and in the correct location for all areas of facility.
- Pick up debris, garbage and scrap materials throughout facility when applicable.
- Manage accurate record-keeping related to movement of materials.
- Perform daily maintenance and inspection of required equipment referencing the daily personal maintenance sheet.
- Perform start up inspection at the beginning of each shift.
- Visually inspect, check and fill fluids, and check functions.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Clean equipment used as needed for shift hand-off.
- Identify damaged and non-compliant materials.
- Look for ways to improve processes and apply Lean thinking.
- Adhere to safety requirements and standards.
- Cross-train and support other material handling roles to which an individual is qualified.

- Review work assignments to plan and coordinate.
- Prioritize workload so production needs are met.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Specialized degree or training is a plus.
- 1 yr. experience in moving materials using same/similar equipment.
- Must possess valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Must be certified on equipment requiring such certification. This can be obtained on the job if needed. (Forklift, Telehandler, Manlift, and Skid Steer)
- Lace up steel toed boots are MANDATORY and the only acceptable footwear for this position.
- Must be able to pass new hire drug test as well as periodic randoms.
- Must be able to safely and efficiently operate tractor, forklift, and back wagons as well as Forklift, Telehandler, Manlift, and Skid Steer.
Ability to read and comprehend documents, such as receiving paperwork, working instructions, packing sheets and blueprints. Ability to speak effectively with others.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and apply to the task at hand.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTSCould include any or all of the following - Sitting or standing for long periods of time; working in tight spaces or at heights over 10 ft.; walking, climbing, crawling, bending, twisting or stooping; exposed to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations; requiring any hand or finger dexterity; exposed to heat or humidity, cold or outside elements; required to wear proper PPE and meet established requirements, etc.
