Job Description
Petrosmith, a leading provider of production equipment for the oil and gas industry, is currently looking for experienced Vessel and Piping Welders to join our team. Our Fabrication Shop specializes in vessels used in the Oilfield Industry. Welders will be responsible for welding pressure vessels, and experience is required. Candidates must be able to pass a 6G or 3G weld test.
Responsibilities- Interpret drawings and specifications
- Weld carbon steel and components using weld procedures
- Fit-up ANSI flanges to pipe, forged flanges to shells, and profile nozzles to match required shells
- Lay-out nozzles and other sub‑assembly locations in shell components
- Burn and grind nozzle cutouts in shell to meet engineering tolerances
- Use flame‑cutting torch, carbon arc gouging, plasma arc, portable grinders and other tools
- Use overhead cranes, jib cranes and other lifting/rigging devices to move components safely
- Complete jobs based on standard shop procedures
- Conform to shop quality practices and procedures
- Conform to safety requirements of the shop
- Work productively with others to determine best solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proficient in basic math, including addition/subtraction of whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Proficient in reading a tape measure or ruler in increments of 1/16”
- Ability to read blueprints
- Understanding of manufacturing sequences in a vessel fabrication shop
- Proficiency with various welding, grinding and fitting tools
- Ability to follow shop procedures, quality procedures and safety practices
- Ability to pass a 6G or 3G welding test
- Experience in pressure vessel shop fabrication
- Ability to lift work components up to 50 pounds
