position description

** safety-sensitive position due to the use of chemicals, overhead cranes, operation of moving equipment, and handling of large industrial steel and paint products.

perform a variety of routine operations connected with the cleaning, painting and loading of products fabricated and/or sold by the company.

duties require the use of rules, gauges, grinders, paint mixers, brushes, spray guns, thinners etc. Use hoists, overhead cranes or lift trucks to position, move and load materials. Receive instructions from supervisor concerning jobs to be worked and operations to be performed. Operate cleaning equipment to remove scale, rust or slag to impart a specified finish to steel. Mask areas or steel not requiring paint as shown on shop drawings.

Apply paint with proper coverage. Use material handling equipment to turn material on skids or buggy and load on trucks when ready. Detect and report any faulty equipment or defective materials to supervisor. Perform minor routine maintenance on equipment.

report questionable cases and unusual occurrences to supervisor.

maintain the work area, tools and equipment in a clean, proper and orderly manner.

follow company quality and quantity work requirements and safety rules and regulations. Detect unsafe conditions and behaviors and immediately report to supervisor.

3. Ability to work from heights.

4. Attention to surroundings and perform duties with focus on safety.

5. Ability to work in non-climate controlled environment.

6. Ability to work in a team environment and stay on task.
