We have an exciting opportunity for a leader with experience leading Blasting, Coating and Painting for in industrial client. This role will lead the paint, coating, and abrasive blasting operations to deliver safe, on time, high quality surface preparation and coating services for industrial equipment. Own production planning, quality control, regulatory compliance, team development, and continuous improvement for all coating and blasting activities at the facility.
Key responsibilities
• Operational leadership:
Plan, schedule, and supervise daily blasting, surface preparation, and coating work to meet production targets and customer specifications.
• Quality assurance:
Enforce coating system specifications and surface cleanliness standards (NACE); oversee adhesion, surface profile, and dry film thickness testing and documentation.
• Safety and compliance:
Maintain a zero harm safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HSE policies; manage PPE, ventilation, containment, and hazardous waste procedures at the Abilene site.
• Team management:
Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate technicians, inspectors, and supervisors; create staffing plans and manage shift coverage and overtime.
• Equipment and maintenance:
Oversee maintenance of blast pots, compressors, spray rigs, ovens, and inspection tools; manage calibration schedules and vendor relationships.
• Inventory and cost control:
Manage consumables, coatings inventory, and spare parts; track usage and implement cost saving measures.
• Customer and project coordination:
Act as primary coating contact for customers and project managers; review scopes, clarify technical requirements, and support estimates and change orders.
• Continuous improvement:
Lead root cause analysis for coating defects, implement corrective actions, and track KPIs to improve quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Materials or Chemical Engineering Preferred)
- 10 years in industrial blasting and coating operations. Experience should include oilfield equipment, pressure vessels, tanks, heavy fabrication, or mobile coating operations.
- 5 years in a supervisory role over blasting and coating operations
- NACE certification
- Technical knowledge:
Familiarity with NACE standards, coating systems, application methods (airless, plural component), and inspection tools (DFT gauges, profilometers).
- NACE Level 3
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety supervisory training
