Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AV Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale commercial audiovisual installation projects. This role is responsible for project planning, execution, technical oversight, budgeting, client communication, quality assurance, commissioning, closeout, and post-installation support. The ideal candidate has strong commercial AV project management experience, hands-on knowledge of Crestron and Extron systems, and the ability to manage field teams, subcontractors, vendors, budgets, schedules, and customer expectations in a fast-paced onsite environment.
Job Responsibilities
Lead commercial AV projects from presales planning through installation, commissioning, closeout, and post-installation support.
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to define project scope, requirements, goals, and timelines.
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, purchase orders, proposals, billing schedules, and change orders.
Oversee AV installation teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
Provide technical oversight for AV control systems, including Crestron, Extron, DSPs, displays, speakers, cabling, projectors, and TV mounting solutions.
Identify project risks and implement proactive and corrective action plans to reduce delays, disruptions, and budget impacts.
Maintain consistent communication with clients, including project updates, issue resolution, expectation management, and account support.
Coordinate project resources, including labor, equipment, materials, vendors, and subcontractors.
Ensure AV systems are tested, calibrated, commissioned, and documented according to project and industry standards.
Maintain accurate project records, including system schematics, programming documentation, user manuals, as-built drawings, reports, and closeout documentation.
Support safety protocols and job site best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
Provide client training, warranty support, and service coordination after installation as needed.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
5+ years of experience managing commercial AV installation projects through the full project lifecycle.
Strong technical background with Crestron, Extron, DSPs, displays, speakers, cabling, commissioning, and AV system integration.
Experience managing budgets, purchase orders, proposals, billing schedules, and change orders.
Experience coordinating field teams, subcontractors, vendors, materials, equipment, and project schedules.
Strong knowledge of commercial AV installation standards, QA processes, and industry best practices.
Strong customer-facing communication skills, including client updates, expectation management, and issue resolution.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, organization, and documentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience with project management methodologies and project management tools.
Knowledge of voice, data, fiber, and wireless installation projects preferred.
Networking and IT fundamentals related to AV systems preferred.
College degree or associate degree preferred.
PMI, PMP, CTS, RCDD, Crestron, Extron, QSC, Q-SYS, or Dante certifications preferred.
Ability to stand, walk, and access active job sites as needed.
Ability to work fully onsite and travel or relocate as required.
Work Experience
5 to 10 years of relevant commercial AV, low voltage, project management, or related field experience preferred.
Experience supporting large-scale commercial AV or new construction environments preferred.
