Continuous Improvement & Operations Safety Manager Abilene, TX - Full Time

Pure Treats Primal Pet Foods LLC in Abilene, TX seeks Continuous Improvement & Operations Safety Manager. Develop and implement production strategies, standardize operational processes, and reduce costs, delays, and waste. Lead the implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and PDCA to improve overall plant efficiency and reduce costs. Oversee daily operations to ensure production goals are met, with a strong focus on safety, Good Manufacturing Processing (GMP), and quality compliance.

Conduct regular assessments of equipment performance in collaboration with the maintenance team to ensure optimal operation and identify areas for improvement. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational methods, equipment, and safety manuals Perform Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and root cause analysis to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the production process. Conduct time studies to assess product cycle times and identify opportunities for improvement in line balancing, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency.

Utilize project management tools to monitor the progress of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, manage resources, and ensure effective communication across departments. Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety regulations, GMPs, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols, and conduct audits to verify adherence to SOPs, LOTO procedures, hazard controls, and equipment safety standards. Lead safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to implement preventive actions.

Support safety committees and coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities. Telecommuting is permitted within commutable distance to the office.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.

Must also possess experience with

  • Lean Manufacturing methods 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and PDCA
  • value stream mapping, time studies, and root cause analysis
  • creating and managing operational enhancements of Standard Operating Procedures involving food safety
  • implementing HACCP plans, GMP programs, and Safety
  • extruder operation and processes
