) to join our team at the TDCJ Middleton Uni
t, an intake facility and the first stop for individuals entering the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) system from county jurisdictions. This is a unique opportunity to serve a population with significant medical needs while working within a supportive, collaborative environment.

At the Middleton Unit, the clinical focus is centered around intake medicine. As patients arrive—often later in the day—you’ll conduct intake physicals, evaluate acute concerns, and ensure safe and appropriate medication management at the very start of their incarceration journey.

• Performing comprehensive intake physical exams
• Managing and reconciling new patient medications upon arrival
• Providing chronic care follow-up as needed
• Addressing sick call appointments
• Working closely with multidisciplinary medical and security teams
• Contributing to a stable, efficient clinical workflow in a high-volume setting

Because this is an intake facility, continuity of care is limited, making this an excellent role for someone who enjoys fast-paced, structured clinical work with a strong focus on assessment and initial management.

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure in the State of Texas
• Comfortable working in a correctional or structured clinical environment (correctional experience helpful but not required)
• Strong assessment and triage skills
• Effective communicator with excellent clinical judgment
• Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic workflow where patient volume varies day-to-day
