Biolife - Practical Nurse

Job Description

This position is eligible for a $1,500 sign‑on bonus.

Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high‑quality plasma you collect will become life‑changing medicines. A commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and work as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

You will determine donor eligibility; manage donor adverse events; review laboratory test results; and notify donors of unsuitable results.

• Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow standard operating procedures for medical emergencies.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and support investigations of pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or recognized nursing program graduate; licensed as LPN or LVN (or RN) in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68 (U.S. – TX – Abilene). U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and up to 80 hours of sick time. New hires may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
