Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services supports center operations, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager and working under the Center Physician for medical issues. The role ensures donor eligibility, manages adverse events, reviews lab results, and supports regulatory, safety, and pandemic response activities.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable results.
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including coordinating transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents, determining further evaluation needs and following EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate level of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification as LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy certification per state requirements.
- Completion of FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- USA – TX – Abilene – U.S. hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68.

- Up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year; new hires eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
