Travel Nurse Opportunity In Abilene, TX

We need a Registered Nurse with OR experience for a job in Abilene, TX. This position requires temporary relocation, and pay will include travel expenses and be higher than a local Nursing assignment. We seek an experienced nurse who can start quickly.

Travel nursing offers adventure, numerous choices, and flexibility. Nurses can select facilities and locations of their preference and work in prestigious medical centers. Many nurses seek a quality lifestyle, and the ability to choose is crucial. To a great extent, travel nurses control their own schedules. Many have been traveling for over ten years and intend to continue.

If you're a nurse looking for a flexible schedule, great pay, benefits, and the chance to explore the country, travel nursing could be perfect. To start a travel nurse career:

Get Prepared For The Steps In The Process

Before starting your first travel assignment, some preparation is needed. Update your RN license if needed, ensure complete immunization and physical records, and have a CV showcasing your nursing skills and experience. Have several references who can vouch for you.

When you've identified assignments of interest, your recruiter will submit you for interviews. During the interview, inquire about scheduling, patient to nurse ratios, required skills, etc.

State Licensing Requirements

Getting an RN license in a particular state can start before having an assignment lined up. Some states take over a month to process, like California, New Jersey, and New York. Many others process licenses quickly, often in a few days. Some states allow you to obtain an RN license in one day by going to the state nursing board directly.

If you have a license in a state part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, practicing in any of the 25 compact states is easier. Your recruiter will assist in obtaining a license in your chosen state.

Your Area Of Expertise

Each facility has its own policy, but normally you need a year or more of experience in your area of specialization. You can start applying for travel positions once you have a year of continuous experience. Some specialties, like psychiatric Registered Nurse and cardiac ICU, require over 2 years of experience.

Versatility

Along with skills and experience, flexibility is vital. Be open to various hospital policies, procedures, and locations to gain additional skills as part of your travel experience. Even if your first choice is an assignment in Hawaii, don't let a great opportunity in a different location pass you by. Most contracts are for 13 weeks, making it easy to try several cities within a year.

Job References and Skills Checklist

A crucial part of your application is your set of clinical references. Ensure they are readily available before applying for a job. Three references are usually sufficient to confirm your clinical skills. A travel nurse will typically fill out a skills checklist with their references.

After addressing references and skills, we can start seeking contracts that match your requirements. When you decide to accept a job, we will help with any additional details such as immunizations and drug testing.
