This position may involve caring for low acuity ICU patients or high acuity telemetry patients. The shift is 3x12 hours with on-call responsibilities once every six weeks. There are six weekend shifts required within a six-week period. Candidates should have experience with accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and IV insulin protocols. Skills in telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, and management of dysrhythmias are also required.
Candidates should be familiar with managing high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and administering oxygen. Experience with post-cardiac angiogram, post-myocardial infarction care, and management of acute strokes is preferred. The unit provides continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring for both low acuity ICU level and high acuity telemetry patients. Patient care relies on RN-driven initiatives, with PCTs supporting the care team.
Candidates will need to independently consult with the medical management team regarding changes in patient conditions. This role requires proficiency in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips. The unit sees a daily census of approximately 20 patients and comprises 25 beds. Candidates should be prepared to collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams for effective patient care.
