Now hiring for an Inside Counter Sales Representative

Location: Abilene, TX |
Pay Rate: $13.00 per hour |
Schedule: 7:30 AM-4:30 PM | Monday-Friday

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Additional customer service, business, or office training is beneficial.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Solid customer service mindset with problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of sales techniques and business math.
• Familiarity with building materials, construction, or related industries is preferred (but not required).
• Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and inventory systems.
• Must be able to work in both office and warehouse/outdoor environments with temperature variations.

• Represent the company in a professional, customer-focused manner, both in person and over the phone.
• Collect customer product needs, design specifications, and act as liaison between purchasing, production, technical/design staff, and the customer.
• Respond to inquiries regarding product selection, orders, pricing, complaints, delivery scheduling, and follow-ups.
• Provide accurate and complete material take-offs for residential, rural, industrial, and commercial projects.
• Generate sales opportunities through research on client needs, industry competition, and product features/benefits.
• Accurately process customer orders, price quotes, invoices, work orders, and sales tickets in the system.
• Coordinate the purchase of special-order products, including gathering pricing, specifications, and availability.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels in both the sales floor and stockroom.
• Collaborate with outside sales representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
• Participate in company-provided training to strengthen sales techniques and expand product knowledge.
• Uphold all safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and contribute to a safe work environment.

• Ability to remain seated or stand for extended periods while assisting customers.
• Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
• Ability to perform repetitive keyboard and data entry tasks throughout the workday.
• Willingness and ability to stand and walk frequently, and lift/carry up to 25 lbs. regularly (and occasionally up to 80 lbs.).
