Job Summary

Under limited supervision and oversight, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant and project scope. Responsibilities include providing training, guidance and other necessary support to business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental requirements, identifying applicable environmental requirements associated with Company assets and projects, and coordinating with the appropriate business unit staff, Environmental Services representatives, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.

The Environmental Coordinator should have basic understanding of some of the following environmental programs:

  • Above ground and underground storage tanks
  • Transportation of hazardous materials
  • Solid and hazardous waste management
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
  • Wastewater, storm water, groundwater, and drinking water sampling, reporting and control
  • Oil and chemical spill response and management
  • Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting
  • Asbestos and PCB management
  • Pollution prevention
  • Environmental site assessments
  • Emergency planning, and community right-to-know
Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Coordinate and maintain all environmental activities in the T&D regions to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures. Assist and provide input to Environmental Services on the development of Company environmental policies and procedures. Provide training, instruction and assistance to employees on the implementation of environmental program requirements, and assist in the development of environmental training materials.

Provide support in the event of an oil or chemical spill including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow‑up reports with regulatory agencies. Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities, assisting the lead auditor(s). Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.

Perform and/or oversee environmental site inspections, Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects, assisting the senior reviewer. Respond to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
