- Respond to and conduct crash investigations, including hit‑and‑run and minor‑injury accidents.
- Use Police Radio and Computer‑Aided Dispatch (CAD) to log incidents.
- Issue municipal summons (electronic or handwritten).
- Testify in court and conduct follow‑up investigations.
- Generate in‑person or phone reports of non‑progress crimes and interview victims/witnesses.
- Collect, deposit and handle property and evidence.
- Perform static traffic control and direction support for events as required.
- Use department software and applications for assigned duties.
- Provide support for traffic control and direction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of in‑person customer‑service experience with problem solving and incident documentation.
- Fluency in English; bilingual skills are preferred.
- Strong computer skills, regular use of Windows‑based programs.
- Experience (1–2 years) in law‑enforcement, security, internal investigations, or loss prevention is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record; NCIC/CCIC clearance within six months of hire.
- Valid civilian city of Aurora vehicle operation certification.

- Self‑defense certification (OC Spray).
The role is essential personnel during emergencies or disasters. Duties involve light physical work, moving no more than 20 lb at a time, frequent lifting, carrying, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping. Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather, but may also be indoors in climate‑controlled office environments. Shift work, weekend, overtime for court and special events is required. Employees wear a ballistic vest, body‑worn camera, and standard uniform.
