Overview
Position Mid-Level Diesel Technician – Abilene, Texas. Ryder is hiring an experienced technician with the goal of maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles. This role offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, and a technician career path.
Responsibilities- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic equipment when applicable
- Identifies root causes of basic failures and performs repairs as required
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task
- Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Adheres to all applicable safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
- Performs other support duties as required to support operations
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks
