Auto Body Technician – Gerber Collision & Glass
Job DescriptionThe Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience by assessing, repairing, and restoring each vehicle to its pre‑accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles while collaborating with the team to meet repair facility KPIs and act as a brand ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Key Job Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Repair dents and minor body damage using fillers or alternative methods.
- Realign car chassis and frames to correct structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts; replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts.
- Weld and attach parts; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or equivalent.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship in auto body repair.
- Read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with other repairers.
- Understand methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Know how to use required tools for the trade.
- Work safely in noisy, odor‑rich environments.
- Lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
Flat Rate Compensation is performance‑based and tied to turned hours. Flat rate reflects a structure that includes a guarantee of applicable minimum wage if total compensation is less than the minimum in a pay period. Compensation is commensurate with location, skill, education, and experience. $90,000 – $140,000 / Paid in Hourly Flat Rate
