Position: Scaffolding Helper 2

Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Learn to read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Learn to identify all tools required for tasks and measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
  • Assist skilled craftsman to erect and disassemble scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
  • Assist with construction, re‑enforcement, and dismantling pre‑constructed scaffolds.
  • Assist with building and constructing wooden scaffolds and auxiliary items.
  • Perform work involving rigging of equipment loads.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a Scaffolding Helper in a Power Plant / Industrial setting.
  • Must possess knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
  • Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
Requirements
  • Must be able to constantly move around a construction/industrial site, and stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Work in a construction environment exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required.
  • May be required to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manual lifts, and scaffolds to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction/industrial site.
  • Must have required tools.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required.
  • Ability to pass pre‑access drug and alcohol testing, fitness for duty medical and background check.
