Job Description:
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Low Voltage Technician to join our team on an ongoing data center project. The ideal candidate will have experience with structured cabling and electronic access control installations in commercial or mission-critical environments. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to producing high-quality installations while following all safety standards.
- Pull, route, dress, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
- Install and terminate structured cabling in data center and commercial environments.
- Install and mount access control devices including card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, mag locks, and control panels.
- Install and dress network racks, cabinets, patch panels, and cable management systems.
- Label, test, and certify cable installations using industry-standard testing equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot low-voltage cabling and access control systems.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas while adhering to data center standards and customer requirements.
- Work safely on ladders and lifts while following OSHA and site-specific safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and fellow technicians to ensure project milestones are met.
- 2+ years of experience installing structured cabling in commercial or data center environments.
- Experience installing access control hardware including card readers, door strikes, mag locks, and control panels.
- Experience pulling and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cable.
- Ability to read blueprints and installation drawings.
- Experience using cable testers, toner/probes, and other low-voltage hand tools.
- Must provide basic hand tools required for low-voltage installation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders and lifts.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required.
