Job Summary

Project Lead – Fiber will act as the on‑site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads – Fiber for voice and data installation projects. The Project Lead’s task is to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. Job site located in Haskell, TX.

Responsibilities Cabling & Termination
  • Run major project crews; provide training; ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines; hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance communications and escalation to Project Manager when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and alignment with the project budget.
  • Install work‑area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and walls (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates, and surface‑mount boxes correctly, following IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).
  • Build closets (mount and install backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware); install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable; complete all IDC connections.
  • Perform testing: continuity tests on horizontal and riser cable; use volt‑ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs.
  • Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors for multi‑mode and single‑mode fiber.
  • Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cords; terminate & breakout outside‑plant (loose tube) fiber (Corning/Commscope, 3

    DNX); terminate indoor tight‑buffered multimode and single‑mode fiber.
  • Install fan‑out kits, including buffer tube; calculate end‑to‑end loss budgets per TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single‑mode fiber.
  • Complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, Job Blog, tool transfers, etc.).
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Testing
  • Test using OTDR and Fluke DTX 180.
  • Troubleshoot using OTDR to identify and correct end‑to‑end and network‑wide problems.
Splicing
  • Perform mechanical splicing for all types of fiber cable.
  • Perform fusion splicing for all types of fiber cable.
  • Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space and direct‑buried splices.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Self‑motivated, positive, professional, and capable of implementing project process improvements.
  • Promote company culture to all employees, vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Proficient with listed tools.
  • Act as company liaison for customer representatives.
  • Possess proven problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.
  • Work at heights, off a ladder, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb, and move up to 75 lb.
  • See, distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Travel within branch and regional territories as needed.
Required Tools
  • Screwdriver (regular & Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), needle‑nose & channel lock pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tool with 110 block/66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX.
Qualifications Education & Certification
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency in all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems (Unicam, anaerobic, heat‑cure).
  • Experience with OTDR and PMLS for MMF & SMF systems.
  • Meet IES driving standards policy.
Preferred Experience & Certifications
  • 5+ years of fiber experience and leadership of small groups.
  • Industry certifications (Corning/FOA).
  • Data center installation experience.
  • Mechanical and fusion splice experience.
  • OSP / confined‑space entry experience (splicing).
Salary

USD 28.00 / Hr – USD 32.00 / Hr.
